About Me:
Andrew Canaan is a Lighting Designer based in New York City. Originally from Rapid City, SD, Andrew graduated with BAs in Theatre, Media Studies, and Communications.
Furthering his studies, Andrew attended Wayne State University in Detroit, MI for an MFA in Theatre Lighting Design.

During his time in both Undergrad and Grad School, Andrew has had the opportunity to work as an Apprentice, Assistant, and then becoming the Head of Electrics at the Black Hills Playhouse.
Andrew has also recently joined the staff at The Santa Fe Opera for the 2023 & 2024 season. Previously serving as a Staff Electrician, Andrew now serves as a Lighting Supervisor, implementing a variety of new, touring, and remounted operas into the unique stage at Santa Fe.

Outside of theatre, Andrew loves to travel and spending time with friends. He enjoys hiking, roller skating, and Dungeons & Dragons
